The project included the design, permitting and construction administration and inspection of two new production wells that were drilled into the Castle Hayne Aquifer system and capable of producing 210 GPM each.
To meet the drinking water standards, Rivers designed the Simpson Well Blending Station that was equipped with a state-of-the-art flow monitoring and control, Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA), and chlorination systems. The project also included: 1 million gallon, fluted-column elevated storage tank and 32,000 LF 10 to 30-inch HDPE waterlines installed using horizontal directional drilling (HDD) methods. The project also included multiple jack-and-bores, tie-ins to existing lines, service connections, and the use of DIP with special “Viton” gaskets through areas contaminated with hydrocarbons.
