Wastewater Treatment Plant, Town of Beaufort, North Carolina

This project was in response to violations to the Town's NPDES discharge permit and the age and general condition of the Wastewater Treatment Facilities.? The project involves design, permitting and construction of a new 1.5 MGD WWTP with nutrient removal capacity and tertiary filtration.

The project includes a 3.75 MGD influent pump station, preliminary treatment unit, and oxidation ditch comprised of 2 racetrack-style channels and 3 selector tanks supported on a large reinforced concrete mat foundation.? The oxidation ditch equipment consists of 6 rotors, 6 submersible mixers, and 4 flow boosters.? The project also includes 2 58' diameter clarifiers, 3.75 MGD filter feed pump station, tertiary filters, 3.75 MGD effluent pump station, chlorination and dchlorination facilities, dual chlorine contact tanks, reaeration basin and non-potable water pumps.? The project includes a 2.25 MGD return activated sludge pump station, 2 cast-in-place aerobic digesters, belt filter press feed pumps, Belt Filter Press, and sludge storage facilities.? A new Operations Center will be constructed on the site, with office space, laboratory, men’s and women’s restrooms, and control room.? The project will include two (2) Power Zone Centers with integral Motor Control Center with VFDs and starters.? Other components included with the project consist of electromagnetic flow meters, programmable logic controller (PLC), and high-speed floating aerators.
