Wastewater Treatment Plant Expansion, City of New Bern, North Carolina

Planned, designed and provided a new 6.5 MGD Wastewater Treatment Plant Expansion project.

The project consists of renovated influent pumping facilities, new preliminary treatment unit, dual five stage Bardenpho biological treatment units, dual secondary clarifiers, new tertiary filtration, renovated chlorine contact chambers, new reaeration basin, new filter feed and return sludge pumping stations. Sludge facilities include renovated aerated sludge holding tanks, belt filter press, on-site sludge stabilization and storage facilities for production of a class A sludge suitable for domestic disposal. The project included an integrated instrumentation and controls system that networks all major equipment and components to the Man-Machine Interface via a fiberoptic-based ethernet system. The cost of the project was $20 million and was funded by state/federal agencies.
