Drainage Improvements, Martin Community College, Williamston, North Carolina

Rivers provided the stormwater infrastructure improvements plans for the campus of Martin Community College located within the Roanoke River Basin.

A Preliminary Engineering Report was completed with hydraulic recommendations and cost estimates. Due to lack of funding from the college, Rivers began coordination with North Carolina State University's Cooperative Extension Service to secure grants from the Clean Water Management Trust Fund (CWMTF). With the help of NCSU and non-profit groups, a plan was set into motion to provide educational BMP's on campus, including stream restoration, rain gardens, grassed swales, and bioretention ponds.

Recently, Martin Community College received funds earmarked for campus construction projects from the North Carolina Community College System. RIVERS has been contracted to complete construction documents and provide contract administration and inspection throughout the construction process. Construction is expected to begin Summer of 2008.
