Moye Boulevard Relocation at PCMH, Greenville, NC
To accommodate the new East Carolina Heart Institute (ECHI), PCMH designers relocated Moye Boulevard by moving five boulevard lanes to the east in a gradual curve behind a new Central Utility Plant (CUP) and in front of the child care center and the Ronald McDonald House, where it joins the existing route.
Rivers conducted engineering and landscape architecture of this project. The roadway utilizes storm drainage, asphalt pavement, curb and gutter, and sidewalks. Also included in this project is the sanitary sewer extension and storm drainage relocation required for the ECHI and CUP projects. The services provided by Rivers include combined schematic design / design development, bid documents, construction documents and administration, preparation of street closing petition, street closing map, legal description and preliminary opinion of construction cost. Rivers also prepared the bid traffic control plan for detouring traffic around the tunnel construction and provided schematic layout for reallocation of parking spaces.
Rivers developed a comprehensive planting and irrigation plan to unify the Moye Blvd. relocation, CUP site and associated parking lot projects. In addition to aesthetics, design considerations included long-term maintenance capabilities of the Grounds Department, the City's planting requirements, and coordination with utility locations.
