Boardwalk Improvements, Town of Beaufort, NC

Harborwalk at Turner Street
The project consisted of approximately 1,100 LF of 6-feet wide wooden, lighted pedestrian boardwalk improvements over Town Creek marsh parallel to the west side of the Turner Street causeway and overlooking Town Creek and Gallants Channel beyond. Rivers was engaged to add lighting to a boardwalk designed by others and to provide construction administration and inspection. Rivers responsibilities also consisted of confirmation of environmental and encroachment permit requirements, vertical/horizontal controls in field & on plans, modification of plans/specifications to accommodate pedestrian level lighting, and preparation of bidding documents.

Rachel Carson Reserve Boardwalk/Observation Platform on Carrot Island
The project consisted of approximately 500 LF of 6-feet wide boardwalk implemented with sustainable materials from Taylor Creek across a portion of Carrot Island and the Rachel Carson Reserve terminating with a 24 ft x 24 ft observation platform overlooking Bogue Sound and the barrier island of Shackleford Banks beyond. Rivers was engaged to provide construction administration and inspection for a boardwalk designed by others. Rivers responsibilities also consisted of confirmation of environmental and encroachment permit requirements, vertical/horizontal controls in field & on plans, modification of plans/specifications to accommodate sustainable material designs, and preparation of bidding documents.
